Veterans day
Veterans day is also known as Armistice day. It is a holiday dedicated to american veterans of all wars.This holiday takes place on November 11. Veterans day became a legal holiday in the U.S. in 1938. Veterans day was made to  honor of all those who participated in all wars. It is important to show honor on this day because it is a way of acknowledging the sacrifices they made while serving our country. Some ways to show honor and respect on veterans day are:
  1. Attend a veterans day event
  2. Donate to organizations who support and appreciate veterans
  3. Fly a flag (make sure you do it correctly)
  4. Ask someone about their service
  5. Write a card to a veteran
  6. Visit a VA hospital and spend time with a veteran

Columbus day is a US holiday that celebrates the landing of christopher columbus in “the new world” on October 12, 1492. Many people say that christopher discovered America but that is false, there were millions of people living there before he landed there. This holiday honors christopher's achievements and celebrates Italian - American heritage. Columbus day was not a holiday until president Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed it to be a holiday in 1937. People celebrate columbus day by hosting parades and fairs that have costumes, Italian food, and music. Reflection: I think Columbus day is a good holiday because it celebrates Italian-American heritage.
