Veterans day Veterans day is also known as Armistice day. It is a holiday dedicated to american veterans of all wars.This holiday takes place on November 11. Veterans day became a legal holiday in the U.S. in 1938. Veterans day was made to  honor of all those who participated in all wars. It is important to show honor on this day because it is a way of acknowledging the sacrifices they made while serving our country. Some ways to show honor and respect on veterans day are: Attend a veterans day event Donate to organizations who support and appreciate veterans Fly a flag (make sure you do it correctly) Ask someone about their service Write a card to a veteran Visit a VA hospital and spend time with a veteran

"Don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now. Write down what you want most and see it often." -Peter Vidmar This quote by Peter Vidmar is. He is basically saying to not give up on what you want in life. What he means by don't sacrifice what you want most for what you want now is to not really focus on what you want to do at the moment but focus on what you want most. For example, if you want to go to the movies with your friends focus on what you want most before doing anything else. To achieve what you want most you have to write down what you want, That's why Peter says to write down what you want most and see it often. When you write down what you want you have to see it often to remember what you want and be motivated to achieve it. When you write down your goals and see them very often you are very likely to achieve that goal.  

"A god name is better than anything you can achieve in this life" Coach K Mike Krzyzewski This quote from coach k means that having a good name is the best thing you can have in life. By having a good name he doesn't mean having a nice name, he means having a name that everyone knows and when they hear that name they would just think good things. They would not think of a criminal they would think of someone that makes good decisions, is loyal, responsible,etc. This is the greatest achievement in life because you would be known as a great person and  as a role model.

"If your so- called friends urge you to do anything you know is wrong, you be the one to make a stand for right, even if you stand alone. Have the moral courage to be a light for others to follow."  This statement is very true and everyone should listen to it. Many kids hang out with their friends in school during lunch but are they really their friends? If that person tells you to do things that are wrong, he or she is probably not a friend. A friend does not encourage you to do things you know are wrong such as smoking, not listening to your parents, doing bad in school, etc. Always stand up for what you think is right and don't do what these "friends" tell you to do if you know it is wrong. You shouldn't hang out with these people if you know they are a bad influence. Always know who you are hanging out with and who you consider a friend.

Environmental Health Specialist Duties and responsibilities: Environmental health specialist can also be called Environmental health or safety inspector. They determine if there is any health issues and correct them. An environmental health specialist inspects facilities such as schools, food establishments and vendors, recycling centers, hotels, body art parlors, public swimming pools, etc. Salary:$41,880

Columbus Day Christopher columbus is an italian explorer who was born in 1451 in the republic of Genoa, Italy. Columbus day is a US holiday that celebrates the landing of christopher columbus in “the new world” on October 12, 1492. Many people say that christopher discovered America but that is false, there were millions of people living there before he landed there. This holiday honors christopher's achievements and celebrates Italian - American heritage. Columbus day was not a holiday until president Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed it to be a holiday in 1937. People celebrate columbus day by hosting parades and fairs that have costumes, Italian food, and music. Reflection: I think Columbus day is a good holiday because it celebrates Italian-American heritage.   

"Goal setting is Goal getting. Set and Get"- Mark Victor Hansen Mark Victor Hansens statement is very true because when you set your goal you are more likely to get that goal. This is because when you write down your goal you look at it and read it and you are more determined to reach that goal. When you dont set your goal you just think about it but never achieve it or are very unlikely to achieve it. For example if your goal is to be a nurse or a doctor you have to write it down. That is when you set your goal. To get your goal you have to do whatever you can and be willing to do everything you need to do to reach it. Always remember to write down any goal that you want and look at it every day because that is the only way to get that goal. Get a journal and write down all of your goals on there and remember the more you set, the more you get.  

Plastic Surgeon Duties and responsibilities: Most people think that a plastic surgeon only do cosmetic procedures to enhance a patient's outward appearance but they do more than that. Some plastic surgeons specialize in treating patients after an injury. A plastic surgeon talks to the patient before the treatment to know what they want to change about their body. They suggest a medical treatment to correct what they want and they tell the patient the benefits and  risks of the procedure. They make a schedule for the patient and line up other medical professionals that would be needed for the procedure. They meet with the patient after the surgery to see if the surgery went well and was successful. Salary: $302,263-$448,513 Education : To become a plastic surgeon you need a bachelor's degree in a pre-medical major such as biology or chemistry. You must enter medical school after.

"When obedience becomes your goal it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block, it becomes a building block." -James E. Fost In this quote by James E. Faust, he is saying that every time you obey you build a building block and go higher. This is obviously not literal. Your goal is to get to the top and to do that you need to be obedient.  Just like you build a block every time you obey you also get a stumbling block every thime you disobey. When you get a stumbling block your blocks fall and you have to build them up again. You should always choose the right to keep your blocks from falling because once your blocks fall you are going to struggle to build them again. Being obedient feels good afterward and you also make others feel good.    

"We learn to do by doing" -Spencer W. Kimball This means that we learn by doing and experiencing things ourselves. You can't learn something by just sitting down. For example, to learn to ride a bike you have to be on a bike and experience it yourself. We also need to want to learn something to learn it. If you dont want to learn it you would just give up and not try. In math class you can listen to your teacher giving the lesson and learn but in order to know you are getting it right you have to do some problems youself. There are other ways to learn like listening or reading but the best way is by doing it youself. When you do something youself you are actually learning because you make mistakes and you  learn from those mistakes. When you are learning by watching someone else do the work you would most likely not remember how it's done that's why to learn you have to do it youeself. Ear Nose Throat Doctor Duties and responsibilities: ENT doctors are often referred as an Otolaryngologist. Otolaryngologists take care of problems related to the ear, mouth, nose, throat, and neck. They investigate if the problem is an allergy because allergies recur. If patients have severe damage otolaryngologist recommend surgery. They inform their patients on what they can do to prevent those problems. Salary: $291,943- $400,295 a year Education: To be an ENT doctor you need to go to university for four years and get a undergraduate degree. You also need to go to medical school for four years and get a medical degree.You need recidency training for five years as well.

There are many oportunities for you to be succesful. They are very helpful and students should use them to make their years in school much easier. There is no way students will not be able to graduate because LAUSD gives them all they need. They got transportation to go to their school if they dont live close and they got programs where they could be more involved and where they can get help with their work if they have some problems. LAUSD wants you to be succesful and to have a good education in school. I will use these student services so i can be succesful in life.  

"Choosing the right is always the right thing to do." -Alex Linares I agree with Alex Linares that choosing the right is always the right thing to do. Even though someone tells you to do something that is wrong you should always choose the right. Sometimes people are confused and don't know if to choose the right or the wrong but you should always choose the right because when you choose the wrong you feel bad afterwards.  

Dermatologist Duties and responsibilities: Dermatologist treat conditions related to the skin. They can also treat the hair and nails. They make a healthy diet  and recommend exercise for the patient because diet and no exercise affects your skin.They teach their patients basic hygiene and nail care. salary: $88,438-$308,058 a year Education: To become a dermatologist you need an undergraduate degree from a four year college including pre-medical courses in biology, organic chemistry, physics, and general chemistry. You must also complete a four year accredited medical school.

"What you are as a person is far more important than what you are as a basketball player" -John Wooden This quote took me a long time to understand but I think it means that it doesn't matter how wealthy or how rich you are, the only thing that matters is how you are as a person. you could be rich and be a very kind person. Most rich and wealthy people are greeedy and unhappy. The only thing that matters is if you are kind and choose what's right and if you do that good will come your way and people could also trat you kind.

"True weal th is of the heart, not of the purse." -Pathrons This quote is very true and it sends a positive message to people. This means that wealth comes from the heart and not from money. Many people want a lot of money because it would make them happy but most of the time it does the opposite. Most rich people are not happy, they are mostly depressed. They could have anything they want but they are not happy. Some rich people also do whats wrong just to get all that money. If you did have a lot of money you probably will be happy but that would only last a little. Everyone should be happy with what they have and not do what's wrong to be rich. They should spend more time with their family and have fun because that is what true wealth is about and you don't need money to be happy.    

Dental Assistant Duties and responsibilities: A dental assistant prepares the treatment room for the patient. They welcome, comfort, and seat the patient. When a dentist is treating a patient, the dental assistant passes or places  the instruments they will need for the procedure where the dentist can easily access them. They check the dental supplies inventory to see if they need more supplies and they also inform the patient on how they can take care of their teeth better. Salary: $30,824-$38,397 Education: Dental assistants have to take academic programs. They can take them in community colleges and technical or vocational schools. The program takes about a year to complete and it leads to a certificate or diploma. Demand for this profession:

Salary: $128,784-$168,621 a year Education: Dentist have to have a doctorate degree in dental surgery or dental medicine. They also need a 1-2 year residency and be licenced in the state they want to work. Demand for this profession: doctoral or professional degree.
